The concept of using games to learn and innovate is very interesting. Have fun while you create new stuff. What about new projects ideas?

When you need to have new ideas in a team we always think of brainstorm. But, how to efficiently run a brainstorm?

We need to incentive team members to contribute, understand the process and team pains, so we can get better. To do this, we can use innovation games.

I tried this idea in my team. First, we ensure every one was aware that every suggestion count and we needed to respect all members.

After that, we draw a boat in the water with several anchors. Some anchors were deeper then others. The idea here is that each team member pin a post-it in these anchors with a pain.

What are their worst nightmare? The pains can be related to an activity or process. The deeper the anchor, bigger the pain.

After that we worked each pain, prioritizing the bigger ones, to find solutions. The solutions could be a process change or even a project that will bring a new product or innovation.

Virtual team members also participated thru phone and an online mural. The session was recorded and we took some pictures.

The results were not 2 or 3 ideas, but 13!!! And we will continue working to bring more ideas with these games.
